John Giorno, William S. Burroughs Sr. and Jr. reading MP3 64 kbps 1h42m Date: 1979-08-15 The reading displays a contrast between William S. Burroughs Jr.'s writings and the writings of his father, William S. Burroughs, Sr. William S. Burroughs Jr. reads a series of short poems and plays the harmonica, followed by William S. Burroughs Sr. reading from his then unpublished work, The Gay Gun. Buddhist poet Giorno reads two energetic long poems "Eating the sky," and "Put your ear to stone and open your heart to the sky." The latter presentation is accompanied by a recording of Giorno reading the piece earlier, with the sound effect of a distorted, repeating echo. Note: the recording is provided as is. I've done no editing whatsoever. There's a couple of dropouts (tape shifts?) and a weird change in amplitude around the middle of the session. These are amateur recordings. But the performances are great. Especially Giorno shines on this one. WSB Jr might agreeably be said to be more of a curiosum than an actual genius - but be the judges of that yourselves.
